Kimpton on its way to UK

InterContinental Hotels Group will be adding 13 high-end hotels to its UK portfolio after the sale of Principal and DeVere hotels from Starwood Capital Group to Foncière des Régions. The $1.1 billion deal is expected to close in June 2018.

Foncière des Régions plans to rebrand these hotels with IHG.

  3. The Principal Edinburgh George Street
  4. The Principal Met Hotel (Leeds)
  5. The Principal York
  6. De Vere Oxford Thames
  7. The Grand Birmingham (pipeline)
  8. The Principal Manchester
  9. The Principal Blythswood Square (Glasgow)
  10. The Principal Grand Central (Glasgow)
  11. The Principal St David’s (Cardiff)
  12. The Principal Oxford Spires
  13. De Vere Wotton House (Guildford)

IHG CEO Keith Barr indicated plans to rebrand at least three of these hotels in London, Edinburgh and Manchester as Kimpton Hotels.

The Principal London, a 334-room hotel on Russell Square in Bloomsbury opened last month.

    So it looks like the old Hotel Russell will be a Kimpton? At least one of the Edinburgh properties will be an IC. I’d have guessed that possibly the Birmingham and Manchester properties would also have been ICs.
