Daily Getaways discount travel offers begin April 9, 2018. This post includes a preview of all the daily offers through May 8 with full details of the offers for the first two weeks of the 5 week sale.

The one sale that stands out to me is Choice Privileges points on sale Tuesday, April 10. In the past few years it has been difficult to buy Choice Privileges points due to limited quantities. In 2018 there were a little over 1,000 sets of points for sale and they were gone within a couple of minutes. On Tuesday, April 10 there will be over 6,000 sets of Choice Privileges points for sale.

I am surprised to see Wyndham Rewards raised its price again to $175 to buy 15,000 points. Members can earn 17,000 points with the current Wyndham Rewards promotion for 15,000 bonus points after 2 stays. Two stays can be accomplished for under $100 in many places around the USA where there are Super 8 motels around $40 per night.

IHG points and Hilton points are discounted, but not much more than commonly available during other buy points opportunities through the year.

    Until a couple of years ago, Choice would sell 2000 points for $15 in unlimited quantities for most practical purposes. It involved the points+cash bookings and then cancelling them for an all points refund.

    That was 7.5 cents per point. And this time Choice is selling points on Daily Getaways for how much per point? Even compared to prior years Daily Getaways, the price seems to have gone up by c. 25% in at least some cases.

    @GUWonder – Points were available for $7.50 per 1,000 through Points+Cash in early 2017, but that avenue is gone.

    Choice Privileges points were cheaper last year by 20% or more, but it was very hard to buy any points with the limited quantities.

    Regular price for Choice Privileges points is $11 per 1,000 with a purchase limit with a 50,000 annual limit. Members could buy 240,000 points through Points+Cash.

    Choice Privileges 2017 rates during Daily Getaways:

    $160 = 40,000 points = $4.00 per 1,000 points = 63% discount on $11 rate.
    $155 = 36,000 points = $4.31 per 1,000 points = 61% discount.
    $132 = 32,000 points = $4.13 per 1,000 points = 62.5% discount.
    $90 = 20,000 points = $4.50 per 1,000 points = 59% discount.

    Choice Privileges 2018 rates during Daily Getaways:
    $265 = 55,000 points = $4.82 per 1,000 points = 56% discount.
    $205 = 42,000 points = $4.88 per 1,000 points = 56% discount.
    $144 = 28,000 points = $5.14 per 1,000 points = 53% discount.
    $80 = 14,000 points = $5.72 per 1,000 points = 48% discount.

    Points are more expensive this year, but I gladly accept the higher price for a much better opportunity to buy points.

    If I can buy 194,000 Choice Privileges points for $940, I am confident I can use those points for 12 to 20 hotel nights to save $50 to $100+ per night on hotel stays I will need in Europe in 2018.

    In Copenhagen I can book Ascend Collection Skt Petri for 20,000 points when rates are frequently over $300 per night. Or Clarion Collection Hotel Temperance Malmo for 8,000 points when rates are typically $150+ per night.

    Do you know if it’s possible to book the family rooms in Norway with Choice points.
    I am planning a trip there traveling with 3 adults and 1 infant.

    @Mick – I have seen family rooms at a few hotels in Norway available for points. As long as you have sufficient points for one reward night, you can check individual hotels and see what kind of rooms are available for points.
