    Visited Australia (Sydney, Melbourne) and NZ (Queenstown, Auckland) at end of 2016. Queenstown was definitely the best part of NZ, the natural beauty in the surrounding area is unreal. Wife and I stayed at (and enjoyed) the Turret Bed and Breakfast, which (funny irony) is owned by a nice ex-pat (formerly?) American couple.

    Central Queenstown is certainly touristy but scenic/memorable nonetheless. Try Fergburger (gourmet burgers) and ride the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw to visit a real sheep farm on the other side of Lake Wakatipu. New Zealand also known for odd/unique bird species. Many Lord of the Rings tours available (if you liked the movies), although probably more on the North Island.

    Excellent find. It’s still available for a handful of dates. Qantas must be having trouble filling these particular flights.

    Being able to earn 100% of actual miles with Alaska Mileage Plan is icing on the cake.
