Clarion Prague City 10,000 Choice Privileges points reward stay

a room with a television and a desk

Clarion Prague City is a hotel I stayed at for 9 nights over 5 stays in the past year. This hotel is one of the best values in Prague on points at an average 10,000 points per night. I changed one of my two reward reservations from a 10,000 points reward night to a paid night at 93 EUR/$110 USD.

Clarion Prague City Room 101

Stayed in Room 101 on both Clarion Prague City hotel stays a few days before and couple days after New Year’s Day. Normally I don’t like Floor 1 rooms, which is the second floor by US norms. Never had an issue with noise at Clarion Prague City with rooms in front of hotel double set of windows and floor is well off street level so no problem with a first floor room.

Since I have already reviewed this hotel two times, this post offers room photos of Room 101, since it was larger than other Clarion Prague City rooms I have stayed.

The space is larger than other rooms I have had at Clarion Prague City. Three other rooms I stayed in only had space for one chair.

Another difference is the top windows opened on this side of the hotel facing the interior open space. Windows did not open in the room I stayed at in October on the street side of the hotel.

Bathroom was exactly same as other rooms.

Love being on Floor 1 with stairs quicker than elevator.

Choice Privileges 5,000 Bonus Points Nov 14 Flash Promotion

I received a flash promotion offer from Choice Privileges for 5,000 bonus points on any hotel stay I booked on November 14 and completed by December 31, 2017. I booked Clarion Prague City, a hotel stay I already had booked on a reward night reservation.

Value of Choice Privileges points

My Choice Hotels stay pattern using points, primarily in Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, meant earning 6,000 points rather than redeeming 10,000 points for $110 was a great value.

Frequent travel through Copenhagen and Stockholm for cheap flights from and to San Francisco SFO and Bay Area airports does not mean I have to fork out $200 per night for an airport transit overnight through CPH or ARN to/from some other city in Europe. $150 to $200 is a common rate for most 3-star and 4-star hotels in Copenhagen and Stockholm much of the year.

Choice Privileges offers Clarion Collection Hotel Temperance in Malmo as a cheap reward night at 8,000 points when transiting through Copenhagen. Breakfast and a dinner buffet is offered on reward nights.

Clarion Hotel Sign Stockholm and Clarion Stockholm Hotel are two fine hotels at 10,000 points per night when transiting through Stockholm Arlanda ARN or Stockholm Skavsta NYO.

Stockholm Skavsta is a major route for Ryanair and Wizz with over 30 routes across Europe. The distance between ARN and NYO airports is far and bus transportation via Stockholm takes a minimum 3 hours. I find it easier to arrive and depart on two different days. I traveled through Stockholm and Copenhagen several times in 2017 and flew home to San Francisco from CPH a couple weeks ago.

Clarion Prague Old Town is another property where I had planned to stay for 12,000 points. I changed my reservation at the last minute to Clarion Prague City due to the easier metro transportation option from Park Inn Prague.
