Came across this American Airlines $760 round trip fare for San Francisco to Auckland with a departure August 1, 2018 flying via LAX to Sydney, then Sydney-Auckland on Qantas.
Availability on several early August departure dates combine a relatively low sub-$800 ticket price for summer travel with a $200 fare price drop from July 2018 lowest fares. Looks like low fare dates are departures August 1-15.
February to May 2018 has ticket prices at $733 to $761 round trip with Hawaiian Airlines.
