One of the joys of Napier, New Zealand complementing extensive downtown art deco architecture from the 1930s are colorful murals on many buildings. One of the primary tourist attractions of this east coast city on Hawkes Bay, North Island is the concentrated art deco architecture downtown in this city of about 60,000 residents.
Napier, New Zealand suffered catastrophic destruction in 1931 when a 7.8 magnitude earthquake leveled much of the city, followed by a firestorm to complete the destruction.
I photographed murals in downtown Napier as well as Art Deco structures during my five days walking around the city in November 2016.

These two murals were in a downtown Napier parking lot with a small record store holding one of the best collections of classic rock and punk era LP albums I saw since the 1980s.
