Club Carlson free Friday Night every two stays or 10K points July 1–Sep 30

Only this morning I looked at booking a Club Carlson property, then decided to wait and see what their next promotion will be. An email this morning announces the next Club Carlson promotion and I am loving its potential.

Which will you choose: a free stay on a Friday night, or 10,000 Bonus Gold Points®? The rewards you may earn with Club Carlson are entirely up to you. All you need to do is register and stay between July 1, 2017 and September 30, 2017. For every two stays you complete, you’ll earn a reward — up to three free Friday nights or up to 30,000 Bonus Gold Points, depending on your choice at registration.

Club Carlson Free Fridays

Earning Period:

July 1 – Sep 30, 2017

Promotion Rewards:

Every two stays earn one free Friday award night or 10,000 points. Member must choose award type before your first eligible stay and reward choice may not be changed. Member may earn 3 Free Friday reward nights during promotion.

Free Friday Reward Redemption Period:

Friday October 6, 2017 – Friday January 26, 2018

Free Friday nights has far higher potential value since these can be used at any hotel worldwide.

There are some drawbacks to Free Fridays award choice since you can only use these free nights on Fridays. Plus, you can only redeem Free Friday reward nights from Friday October 6 – January 26, 2017. This means there are only 17 Friday dates eligible for a Free Friday reward redemption.

Still, I am definitely rearranging some hotel stays to maximize this promotion for our travel. I can earn 3 or 4 free Fridays during he earning period, however, I don’t think I can use more than 4 Free Fridays.

My Club Carlson wife swapping plan

I currently have a 3-night Radisson Blu stay reservation for July at $85 per night on our next trip to Europe. I can keep that reservation, stay 3 nights and only earn one stay credit towards Free Fridays.

However, if I rebook a one night reservation for the hotel ($87), then Kelley books one night ($93), then I book one night ($97), (Ric-Kelley-Ric) our tally for three consecutive nights will be two stays for me and one stay for her with three nights. An extra $22 in hotel spend will earn one Free Friday and give Kelley one stay.

I can shift another 3-night hotel reward reservation I only made this morning in July to a Club Carlson hotel to give me another 2 stays and free Friday night and Kelley will get her second stay and earn one Free Friday. We would earn 3 Free Fridays on 6 hotel nights for under $600.

I might even be able to squeeze in another two hotel stays at Club Carlson hotels in July during our next trip.

I first pulled off this (Ric-Kelley-Ric-Kelley) type of booking arrangement back in 2003 in Australia where we both earned 50,000 bonus Starpoints staying at five different Starwood Hotel brands in Melbourne, Sydney, and Noosa in Queensland.

We each booked one night at the same hotel for 2-night stays and only changed rooms, not hotels. The only reason we needed to change rooms is every hotel booked me in a suite as an SPG Platinum member, then downgraded us to a lower category room for Kelley’s SPG Gold elite stay.

Bottom line: Two hotels, 6 nights, 6 stays and 3 Free Fridays earned with my account earning two Free Fridays and her account earning one Free Friday for about $600.

I spent this morning planning an October solo trip to Europe. This promotion fits perfectly in those plans now that I can arrange my itinerary to take advantage of two great Free Friday nights in very expensive hotels.

Kelley’s free night can be redeemed in December when we are in Europe for the Christmas-New Year’s holiday break.

May Fair London Free Friday

Three Free Fridays on $600 in hotel spend is equivalent to 210,000 points and potentially over $1,000 in free nights.

Like I said, there is high potential is Free Fridays.
