Choice Privileges brings back their periodic promotion for 8,000 points after two stays at any Choice Hotels brand from May 11 to July 31.
Bonus points can be earned multiple times during the promotion for every two stays.
Promotion registration required before eligible stay checkout. Only available to U.S. and Canada residents.
This Choice Privileges promotion is advertised as earn a $50 gift card after two stays. The member actually earns 8,000 points and those points can be redeemed for a $50 gift card at a partner merchant until August 31, 2017. The normal price for a $50 gift card is 16,000 Choice Privileges points.
Or keep your points and redeem points for hotel reward nights at a future date.

Calculating Bonus Points from 2 Stays
After every second qualifying stay, you will be awarded a minimum of 5,000 points and a maximum of 8,000 bonus points, depending on how many base points were earned from your two (2) separate stays. These bonus points will allow redemption for a free night at the 8,000 point reward night level at over 1,500 hotels. A free night at most Choice Privileges locations requires more than 8,000 points.
Example A: $65 Comfort Inn hotel stay + $85 Clarion hotel stay.
All Choice Privileges brands earn 10 points / $1 for base hotel rate before tax.
- $65 Comfort Inn stay earns 650 base points.
- $85 Clarion Hotel stay earns 850 base points.
- 1,500 base points earned after 2 stays.
- + 6,500 bonus points = 8,000 Choice Privileges points.
Example B: $300 Ascend Collection stay + $200 Quality Inn stay.
- $300 Ascend Collection stay earns 3,000 base points.
- $200 Quality Inn stay earns 2,000 base points.
- 5,000 base points after 2 stays.
- + 5,000 points minimum = 10,000 Choice Privileges points.
If hotel base spend is over $300 for 2 stays, then member will receive minimum 5,000 bonus points.
This promotion is leveraged by making two inexpensive stays. In March 2016 I stayed twice in Monterey, California for $80 and earned 800 base points + 7,200 bonus points.
I did not need those two hotel stays and I could have purchased 8,000 Choice Privileges points for $88, the price I paid after tax for my two hotel stays in Monterey.
