London to Singapore $2,158 Qatar/BA Business earns BA Silver Elite

British Airways Executive Club Silver elite at 600 Tier Points is the equivalent Oneworld Alliance status to American Airlines AAdvantage 50,000EQM/$6,000 EQD Platinum in 2017. This post shows how a single $2,158 Business Class itinerary on British Airways and Qatar Airways London – Stockholm – Doha – Singapore round trip earns 640 Tier Points in BA Executive Club for Silver elite status.

Stockholm, Sweden has some of the lowest airline taxes and long-haul international fares from Europe. The basic deal is Qatar Airways has a ThankYou2016 limited time offer for a 5% discount on Business Class I fares from most European countries. These fares also allow one free stopover in Doha, up to 96 hours.

Stockholm to Singapore is $1,750 round trip on Qatar Airways with the ThankYou2016 discount in Business I class. The promotion code knocks about $60 off the $1,818 regular Business Class ticket price.

Bear in mind that Executive Club membership year is based on program enrollment date and not a Jan-Dec calendar year.

Update: Minimum Flight Segments Rule for BA Executive Club elite status.

A reader comment points to Executive Club rule requiring at least 2 flight segments per membership year on BA operated and marketed flights to earn Bronze elite and 4 flight segments for Silver and Gold elite.

In order to achieve or retain Bronze status Members must ensure they take at least 2 flights operated and marketed by British Airways during each Tier Point Collection Year in addition to obtaining either the required number of Tier Points or completing the required number of eligible flights. In order to achieve or retain Silver or Gold status Members must ensure they take at least four flights operated by British Airways during each Tier Point Collection Year in addition to obtaining the required number of Tier Points.

Executive Club Terms & Conditions 6.2 Recognition

You will still need two more British Airways flights to earn Silver elite besides 600 Tier Points earned in itinerary described in this post. That can be done with a one-stop ticket to Stockholm from other cities in UK, Dublin and many other cities around Europe for about same $400 ticket price.

  1. You also need to have four flights on BA/Iberia as well as the 600 Tier points to get BA Silver. So yes you could do as you suggest but you will need at least another 2 “qualifying flights”.

  2. @Leo – Thanks for the clarification. Still pretty easy to route to Stockholm with BA/IB with 4 segments for about same price from many other places in Europe besides London.

  3. Yes it’s not hard as you say. I kept my silver this year with a Qatar LHR-DOH-HKT return business fair and a BA Y return to Greece and an IB return LHR-MAD. Not difficult at all and reasonably cheap if you time it right with Qatar.
