Low fares to Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and England are places where I see $314 one way fares on TAP Portugal.

TAP Portugal  New York JFK – Lisbon LIS – Porto OPO

$251.20 one way Monday Sep 12  ($239 on Momondo.com, but longer Lisbon layover)

JFK-OPO $251ow TAP Sep12

TAP Portugal Boston – Lisbon LIS – Rome FCO

$313.20 one way Saturday Oct 1

BOS-LIS $313 TAP Oct 1

Note: Flights connecting to other European cities tend to have 12 hour all-day layovers in Lisbon. I view this as a bonus feature of the ticket price. You may feel differently about an all-day layover after an all-night flight. A sign on a wall of a Manhattan building in SoHo I read in 2012 kind of summed up my thoughts on fighting jet-lag: “You can sleep when you’re dead.”

TAP Portugal Miami – Lisbon LIS – Prague PRG

$313.20 one way Sunday Oct 2

MIA-PRG $313 TAP Oct 2

One-way fares intra-Europe are very low to get to a city with discount one way fares on Norwegian, WOW, JetAirFly, Eurowings and other low cost airlines back to Boston, New York and Miami.

  1. Lisbon us a top city to visit. Low cost and lots to see. Weather is great also.

Good fit for your travel style

  2. Lisbon is a great city, as is Porto – we traveled between both in June 2015, also visiting Coimbra. Off season would be preferable, because the climate is supposed to be mild. We encountered 100+ degrees on our trip. Portugal is quite affordable – we stayed in the Fontecruz Lisboa (Marriott Autograph Collection) on a corporate rate that was $105 and included breakfast. At Bonjardim in Lisbon, we dined on a whole roast chicken, potatoes, salad and mineral water for less than $25 for 2. We really loved Portugal.

Croatia is also wonderful. I want to return as we only visited Zagreb, Split, Trogir and Dubrovnik. We missed Plitvice Lakes. If you have not been to Slovenia, it makes a great trip combined with Croatia. I can’t believe it’s 10 years since we traveled there.

But go soon – these countries are becoming more popular by the minute.
