Club Carlson Gold elite members can score some big hotel rate discounts at hotels around Europe, Middle East and Africa EMEA region. The deal is you have to arrive on Thursday or Friday night for the Club Carlson 2-for-1 rates and Wednesday or Thursday night arrival for the Club Carlson 4-for-2 rate.
I planned 12 hotel nights using 4-for-2 rates over long weekends in Krakow, Riga and Berlin. Last month I had a deep discount $75 rate for Radisson Blu Krakow, Poland that I had to cancel due to leaving the city on a Friday night for Copenhagen. Rates had risen to over $200 per night in the days before the Pope’s arrival, so I am sure the hotel was happy to get the room back.
Some of the major cities in Europe have limited availability, but there is good availability in many places. You should check both 2-for-1 and 4-for-2 rates since any individual hotel may have only one of these discount rates, or both rates, or neither rate.
Even Athens, London and Paris have some hotels offer 4-for-2 weekend dates I checked for July 2017.
London Park Plaza Westminster Bridge
$162.27 per night July 6-10
London Park Plaza Westminster Bridge $162.27 per night on a 4-for-2 rate July 6-10, 2017
Great tourist location in London and some rooms have view of Big Ben and Westminster Palace.
Loyalty Traveler – Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London hotel review.
Paris Radisson Blu Paris-Boulogne
$127.61 per night July 6-10, 2017
Location of Radisson Blu Paris Boulogne at $128 per night is not so central, but might fit your needs for a 4-night stay in July.
Thanks for this reminder Ric! I had forgotten about this and am headed to Europe in a few months.
I just tried this for Vienna Austria and the 2for1 says stay Thursday and get Friday or Stay Friday and get Saturday. The 4 for 2 is other week days. Of course the nights I need are Sunday night and Monday night which works for neither. My bad luck.
Good post !
@DaninMCI – Vienna is where I could use a 2-for-1 and I found nothing there on these rates. Amsterdam is another dry zone. Copenhagen too for the most part. I saw some 2-for-1 rates last winter at Copenhagen hotels.
Slight fix for the 2 for 1 language you used, Rick. As DaninMCI pointed out, its Thu or Fri night arrival, not Fri or Sat night arrival as you have at the moment.
@Jig – Thanks for the correction. I did not realize I listed wrong days for 2-for-1.
One of my 4-for-2 stays is a real bargain since I am staying Thursday-Sunday nights and the rates are quite a bit higher on Sat-Sun.
Club Carlson does not average each night’s rates like most hotel chains do with free night rates. If the weekend is more expensive then your discount is greater than 50% for the total stay and if the weekend is less expensive than weekdays, then discount is less than 50%.
Interesting tidbit! Will watch out for that differential on the paid vs free night on these rates.
Too bad Stockholm doesn’t really have these rates, would have liked to use them to stay at the Strand for the good location. No worries, I am using the CC Visa e-cert for 1 free night they gave out for getting rid of the second free night feature on the card. The paid rate for the night was $350! But 70K pts is too much to stay there. Moving over to the Clarion Sign for following 3 nights at 10K per night in a park facing Superior room. Since these were bought at Daily Deals, works out to $40 per night.
Thanks again for all the great info on Scandinavia points travel. I hope to be able to confirm that your desolate experience in Stockholm was because (based on a Stockholm friend’s guidance) they really do all spend July and the first week of August in their summer homes!
That looks a lot like my own shower enclosure I got
a hold of just recently, incredibly pleased about it for any person found on the
fence when it comes to acquiring one, do it, you will not be sorry
