AA/BA $413 JFK-LHR and 24 hours in Barcelona, BA nonstop $468 October

American Airlines has New York JFK to London Heathrow at $468 round trip for nonstop flights in late October. Even better, if you have two to three weeks for a trip, is a $413 round trip fare that offers a 24 hour transit layover in Barcelona on the return. This is a tricky fare to locate and you have to play around with dates.

Delta is around $500 round trip for Virgin Atlantic flights and United around $540. Icelandair has several dates from late October into early December at $419 round trip for New York JFK/Newark EWR to London Gatwick, which is probably the catalyst for these low American Airlines fares. Icelandair allows a stopover in Reykjavik that usually raises the ticket price by only around $15. Also, no charge for seat assignment, carry-on or two checked bags with Icelandair.

  1. Just an edit – your screenshots show flights to/from London Gatwick, not Heathrow.

  2. @Scotti – thanks for letting me know. That happens a lot in my post titles for JFK/LGA/EWR and LGW/LHR.

Usually I catch it before hitting publish button.
