Seattle saw a flurry of activity this morning with Delta dropping fares to Frankfurt and Copenhagen to about $709 for summer travel in July-August. This was that kind of day around the USA with Delta attacking American and United in Philadelphia and Washington IAD with low summer fares to Europe and then pulling the fares so quickly that I kept discarding fare deal articles that were gone before I could write them up, or expired within an hour or two of posting. I walked away from my computer for several hours to let fares settle down. All this introduction is a long way to pointing out some rationale for why there are relatively low United fares from Seattle today to several airports in Europe, mostly limited to a few weeks in October. United strikes back at Delta.
Looks like the Alliances are protecting their own territories now. There are American Airlines fares matching United fares to Manchester and Birmingham UK. United has lowest fares to Scandinavia around $700 round trip. The best deal from Seattle is Munich at $709 on United.
