American and Delta have a little summer fare war happening today on New York JFK and Philadelphia routes to Brussels and Zurich at $648 to $669 for July-August departures on American Airlines flights. This deal allows for a short notice trip to Europe this month and the potential to pick up AAdvantage miles before the August 1 change to revenue-based miles earning. These fares and some even lower fares are also available through August. Looks like AA requires at least 6-7 days trip for lowest fares.
Update July 6, 9:15am Pacific time: Delta looks like they already increased fares on these routes. I was working on another article about $546 Delta July fares PHL-DUB and they disappeared as I was writing up the deal. Now I see these Delta links do not price out at fares shown in this post. I am still finding low AA fares, but this one may go away quickly since Delta is no longer competing.
