Star Alliance member EVA Air has a July 4th flash sale ending July 6 with ticket prices at $469 round trip to Manila and Cebu, Philippines from all EVA Air USA gateways in Los Angeles LAX, San Francisco SFO, Seattle SEA, Houston IAH, New York JFK for departures from Sep 1 – Nov 30. Flights from Chicago ORD are on sale for Nov 3-30 only. Add $25 for travel on weekend days Fri/Sat/Sun. Cebu has far less low fare availability than Manila.
There are discount fares starting at $700 to many other cities in Southeast Asia, but there are lower fares on other carriers available to most of those places.
Two aspects of these fares you need to know.
Firstly, these tickets book in EVA economy V class, a fare class that does not earn miles in any frequent flyer programs. Secondly, June to November is the wet season in the Philippines and street flooding and polluted water is a major problem. This can be a risky time for disease in the tropical climate.
