California Europe

California airfares back to normal at $1,200 round trip to Europe

The last few days were one of those periods when airfares in California were anomalously lower from regional airports like my hometown Monterey MRY, with lower airline ticket prices to Europe than airfare from Los Angeles LAX and San Francisco SFO/San Jose SJC. These kinds of fare sales have happened a couple times this year for brief periods.

I try not to sound like I work for the airline and make Loyalty Traveler exclamations like “Hurry!, Buy Now!, Don’t miss this deal!” I have no incentive to encourage people to buy airline tickets. My objective is simply to keep readers aware of some good deals I see.

This morning I don’t see any of those deals for $530 tickets to Ireland or $600 tickets to Spain from California airports like Monterey and Sacramento and Santa Barbara.

Loyalty Traveler – Fare Alert California regional airports $530 Dublin round trip, $600s much of Europe (June 28).

Loyalty Traveler – AA, DL, UA $500s-600s major USA nationwide to Europe fare sale Aug-Mar 2017 (June 27).

Fares from California regional airports to Europe are far higher today than the past few days. Fares from Los Angeles and San Francisco are once again back to $600s and $700s for the lowest priced airports in Europe. WOW and Norwegian are once again the lowest priced airline tickets from LAX, SFO and OAK. The normal order of airfare dynamic pricing for California to Europe has been restored for now.

“A nationwide fare sale to Europe from across the USA like today’s sale is one that has happened fewer than 10 days in the past year. This is the most extensive fare sale to Europe this month from across the USA.” – Loyalty Traveler – June 27.

What a difference a day makes in the cost of travel!

We might have to wait a few months before we see another massive fare sale like the one that just expired, or it could be back tomorrow. The airlines keep us guessing, but one thing is for sure. Airfare deals have been coming with increasing frequency in recent weeks.
