American Airlines has a $609 fare with good availability from Houston IAH to Hong Kong HKG for departures from the last week of August to early December, then mid-January – May 6, 2017. The $609 fare is not available from Dallas DFW. Low fare from Dallas DFW to Hong Kong is a staggering $1,173 during this same time frame.

For Dallas area folks, there is a $609 ticket price available from Tyler TYR, 100 miles east of Dallas. American Airlines TYR – DFW – HKG is $609 round trip.

Wow. That is a lot of miles on a low fare to Hong Kong. This looks like a good deal for someone who wants to earn AAdvantage elite with 2016 cheap flights before the frequent flyer program goes revenue based for elite status in 2017.
