Icelandair low fares yesterday at Boston, New York, Washington IAD, Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver and Seattle to Paris, London, Munich, Frankfurt and Copenhagen were matched by Delta and United. After writing several articles, Google ads today on my computer showed me the likely instigator of this weekend’s fare war with an Icelandair 96-hour fare sale advertisement that started yesterday and ends Sunday June 12.
The major shift in today’s fare war battle is activity from American and Oneworld to match many of the low fares to Europe for Icelandair US airports that Delta and United placed on sale Thursday.

Chicago is an interesting market to revisit after 24 hours since I posted the only low fares available yesterday after Delta and United had lowered fares on the Icelandair routes.
