Qatar Airways has a low fare at $723 round trip from Los Angeles LAX to Colombo, Sri Lanka CMB via Doha. This ticket allows one free stopover in Doha and a second stopover for $100 if you want to break up the trip. Besides as a trip to visit Sri Lanka, there are two other reasons for a trip to Colombo. Firstly are low ticket prices from CMB to places around the world. Colombo CMB is one of the airports for buying low priced round the world tickets and business class fares. The other reason is for cheap flights to the Maldives.

The China Eastern USA website would not price out CMB to MLE at $125 round trip as seen on Google Flights, stating the flights were sold out, yet the ticket can be purchased through OTA sites for $186 round trip.
