Great Delta Airlines deal from San Francisco to Sydney, Australia at $580 round trip with wide open availability nearly every date from late April through October 2016. The low fare kicks in with minimum 10 days trip.
This Deal has been around for the weekend from a variety of cities across the USA. These flights route via LAX, but the fare is $900 on American or United from LAX and over $1,200 on Delta for LAX-SYD.
These SFO fares can be booked through Delta Airlines or Virgin Australia. They ticket in economy booking class T. This booking class earns 50% miles in Alaska and several SkyTeam Alliance carriers and even 100% flight miles in Czech Airlines OK program.
Google Flights Calendar shows low fare dates nearly every date in July and August at 4,732 SEK (I am in Stockholm, Sweden and Google Flights prices in the country of access. 4,732 SEK = $580 USD).
Delta Airlines
San Francisco SFO – LAX – Sydney SYD Australia
$580.36 round trip Saturday July 9 – Saturday July 23
SFO-LAX-SYD = 7,825 flight miles you can earn with Alaska Airlines or several other SkyTeam frequent flyer programs on Economy T fare. Delta SkyMiles earns $417 x 5 miles or more, depending on your SkyMiles status.
My travel plans are already set for the next few months and I unfortunately have to pass on this deal to Australia.
I am trying to catch up reading different posts on these deals to Sydney. Turns out the deal posted yesterday was United Airlines.
There are still fares under $500 round trip with United flying Seattle-Sydney in June.

SecretFlying mentions that creating an open jaw with return to Los Angeles can lower fare even more.
I found that the Seattle-SYD-SFO open jaw also prices at $571, so a one-way SFO to Seattle allows United flyers to fly one-way to Seattle and then ticket an open-jaw and return to SFO for $571 round trip.
