Hyatt Gold Passport April 1–June 30, 2016 earn 5,000 to 75,000 bonus points with 5 to 25 nights

Hyatt Gold Passport Stay More, Play More promotion registration is open. Earn 5,000 to 75,000 bonus points for staying 5 to 25 hotel nights April 1 to June 30, 2016. Bonus points are in addition to base points earned.

This is the first new global promotion from Hyatt Gold Passport since last summer. The offer is a lucrative one for business travelers with a choice of hotel brands for their stays.

The high average room rate for Hyatt Hotels is a factor reducing the value of this promotion for my travels. My survey of Hyatt hotel brands’ average room rates from 2015-Q2 showed Hyatt Hotels average $200 per night and even Hyatt Place is $125 per night.

I have seven paid nights reserved at Hyatt Regency New Orleans in June, however, I booked my hotel stay through an online travel agency rate at Last Minute Travel for $700 when Hyatt wanted $1,940 for the same reservation dates.

The trend continues with Hyatt Gold Passport and Starwood Preferred Guest targeting their offers for the most frequent guests. Hotel promotions requiring 25 hotel nights in three months have far less value for the leisure traveler who more likely will earn only 5,000 bonus points for 5 nights, although the bump to 15,000 bonus points earned after 10 nights might be incentive to focus more discretionary hotel spend on Hyatt. Those 15,000 points can book a $300+ per night room in many Hyatt Hotels around the world. That can be a decent rebate on Hyatt spend for ten hotel nights.
