Note this United itinerary has an overnight in Oslo on outbound. There are other itineraries with no overnight required.

While Scandinavia has generally been the lowest priced landing point in Europe for flights from California over the past year, low fares generally only apply to Copenhagen CPH, Oslo OSL, and Stockholm ARN or a few secondary airports like Billund, Denmark BLL, Bergen BGO or Stavanger SVG, Norway and Gothenburg, Sweden GOT.

The deal here is the ticket price to Bodo BOO is only about $25 more than flying to ARN, CPH, or OSL. The ticket price for travel from one of these major airports to Bodo ranges from $189 round trip on Norwegian for OSL-BOO to $275 round trip for SAS CPH-BOO.

You might think April and May is not a good time of year to visit Bodo and tour the Lofoten Islands, a birder and photographer dreamland.

Bodo has 19 hours of daylight in early May before going 24 hour sun on May 31. May is also the driest month with least rainfall for west coast of Norway.
