Turned out I never signed up for Caesars Total Rewards since the Starwood-Caesars partnership was announced in December 2013.
After signing up for Caesars Total Rewards today and registering for the Starwood Preferred Guest reward discount promotion, the next challenge I had was figuring out how to find reward rates for Caesars properties on SPG.com?
A search of Las Vegas only lists the five Starwood Hotels. Caesars properties do not come up in a city search on SPG.com.
Only Starwood Hotels show up on SPG site search for Las Vegas.
Starwood can learn about hotel partner integration from Hyatt website
Hyatt Hotels has a partnership with MGM Resorts that offers seamless booking transparency on the Hyatt website.
A search of Las Vegas hotels brings up all the MGM Resorts as well as Hyatt Hotels in Las Vegas. The initial search on Hyatt.com only shows paid room rates.
Click on an individual MGM hotel and select “Use Hyatt Points†to find MGM hotel reward rates using Hyatt Gold Passport points.
Bellagio Las Vegas is 25,000 points through Hyatt Gold Passport.
SPG.com reward bookings for Caesars properties requires finding the Caesars booking link: http://totalrewards.spg.com/search/default.aspx.
Las Vegas Friday April 15 – Sunday April 17 reward rates
These are pretty outrageous reward levels for an April 15-17 weekend in Las Vegas. 25,000 Starpoints will buy some very expensive hotel rooms around the world. Most of these Las Vegas Caesars hotels are available for $200 per night or less that weekend.
Changing dates to weeknights made a phenomenal difference in SPG reward rates.
Las Vegas Tuesday April 12
As long as you don’t want to stay at Caesars Las Vegas.
Planet Hollywood Reward Rates
The funny thing is I used to earn quite a few hotel elite nights in SPG through cheap Aladdin Resort stays before that property rebranded to Planet Hollywood and then for some stays after it became Planet Hollywood, before it partnered with Wyndham Rewards.
Planet Hollywood 4,500 points reward night Tuesday April 12.
I assume the normal rate is 7,000 Starpoints for this hotel. A 4,500 points room is a 35% discount reward rate.
There are plenty of upgrade options to push the reward rate back to 7,000 points, like an upgrade to a Hip Room with Strip View.
Of course the important question is what kind of redemption value is this compared to the published room rates for the same date?
Vegas.com rate for Planet Hollywood Hip Room = $58.24
$58.24 savings for 4,500 Starpoints = $12.94 per 1,000 points. Poor redemption value. SPG members still have to pay $35.84 resort fee at Planet Hollywood on a reward stay.
Since Caesars properties have dynamic reward rates through Starwood Preferred Guest and nightly reward rates vary by tens of thousands of points per reward night depending on dates and rates, I doubt there are many instances where a Caesars reward night booked with Starpoints will provide the kind of potential redemption value Starpoints have for reward nights at Starwood Hotels.
