Norwegian and WOW, the other upstart transatlantic low cost airline flying from California to Europe, do not offer very low fares in peak summer months. The real deals here are ticket prices for off-peak travel months. I flew Norwegian from Oakland to Amsterdam on a $211 fare in January and I am flying Stockholm ARN to Oakland in April on a $148 fare.

I have a feeling I might fly Norwegian again in fall 2016 to visit London on a low cost round trip ticket. For me, flying 11 hours economy class is not a big deal if I can save frequent flyer miles for destinations where there are no low fares. Travel between the USA and London is a significant discount with Norwegian Airlines compared to the average fare from the major legacy airlines like American, British Airways, Delta, and United (usually around $900 to 1,000 round trip).
The savings on the cost of airfare flying Norwegian leaves me with more money to handle the high cost of hotels in London.
