American $395 Stockholm to San Francisco round trip March-April 2016

American Airlines has fares as low as $394 round trip from Stockholm to San Francisco for late March to mid-April departures. Most of March is a little bit higher at $450 round trip. Mid-April to mid-June departures are priced around $550 round trip.

American Airlines  Stockholm ARN – London LHR – San Francisco SFO – Los Angeles LAX – London LHR – Stockholm ARN

$395.26  Tuesday April 5 – Tuesday April 12

ARN-SFO $395 AA April5-12

ARN-LHR-SFO-LAX-LHR-ARN = 12,982 flight miles and 13,149 EQM for AAdvantage elite members with 500-miles minimum for SFO-LAX flight segment.

My thinking is I should have not purchased those $147 one-way Norwegian Air tickets for an April flight from Stockholm to Oakland last month. All these low AA fares originating from Europe have opened up so many mileage run possibilities for AAdvantage members, prior to the shift to revenue based redeemable miles earning later this year. But, at some point a U.S. resident needs to buy a ticket home from Europe to the USA.

  1. What a cheap flight! Quick question…could I book the Stockholm to SFO flight, and then just take the LHR – SFO segment? I live in France, so would prefer to get a cheap flight to LHR than ARN…

  2. . @Keith – No. If your ticket is ARN-LHR-SFO-LHR–ARN and you do not fly the first ARN-LHR segment, then your ticket will be canceled.

You can drop off the last segment and fly SFO-LHR, then go directly back to France and skip the LHR-ARN flight. I did that in September when I flew from LHR to Paris on Air France and skipped the last LHR-BGO segment of my ticket on a Bergen-London-San Francisco-London-Bergen ticket. Just be sure you do not have any checked luggage.
