Fare War from Amsterdam, Paris and Rome – Oneworld and Star Alliance attack Delta hubs. American Airlines Rome to Seattle $389 round trip, Paris to Atlanta $438

There is a fare war happening with Star Alliance and OneWorld dropping fares to around $400 round trip flying from Amsterdam, Paris and Rome to SkyTeam hubs in the USA like Atlanta ATL, Detroit DTW, Minneapolis MSP, Salt Lake City SLC, and Seattle SEA.

One example is American Airlines Rome FCO to Seattle SEA for $389 round trip booked through AA.com for all AA codeshares on British Airways operated flights. This means 100% EQM and redeemable miles as long as the BA flights are ticketed as AA codeshares. There are even lower fares booking through European websites, but it harder to get all AA codeshares on BA flights through the European booking engines.

You might want to move on these fares quickly. A low $387 fare on American Airlines AMS-ATL went to $1,100 as I was typing this.

I also see fares in the low $400s from several other airports around France like Lyon, Bordeaux and Nice. Looks like if British Airways or Iberia flies there in France, it is probably a deep discount fare to places like Seattle, Salt Lake, and Atlanta.

@Bobby M. – Good news are fares for USA departures begin to drop in second half of August. I have flown to Europe the past two years and fares were around $600 to $700 in late August and first week of September. Paris is usually a high priced destination from USA. My strategy (if fares to Paris are high in late summer) is fly to wherever in Europe there is a deal and ticket another flight from there to Paris. That can save several hundred dollars per ticket when Paris fares are sky high.

These low round trip fares were mostly gone by late afternoon. The only deals I saw still alive at 7:00pm Pacific time yesterday were Star Alliance carriers from Amsterdam to Seattle around $400 round trip. That deal is still active at the time I posted this comment 10am Pacific time Saturday morning.

All the Paris and Rome deals were gone for Oneworld and Star Alliance by 7pm last night.

I see Icelandair now has Paris to Seattle for $561 round trip, but only for Paris departure on May 20 with return May 26, June 2, 5 or 6.
