Two other notable Ascend Collection properties in Australia earn Excellent ratings in their guest reviews.

Balgownie Estate in Yarra Glen, Victoria is currently bookable for 25,000 points:

In Queensland there is Oceans Resort in Urangan, near Frasier Island at 30,000 points per reward night:

Choice Hotels is often thought of as an inferior hotel chain in the USA with limited usefulness to the upscale points and miles travelers. I have found fantastic value with Choice Privileges traveling around Scandinavia and a hotel like The Thief Oslo, Ascend Collection sits as well in the luxury sector as a St. Regis or JW Marriott brand hotel.

Looks like Australia is another travel destination where Choice Privileges points can be earned and burned in places where there are not too many other chain brand options.
