All three major airlines American, Delta and United have San Francisco SFO –Charleston CHS on sale at $143 each way for $286 round trip. Widespread low fare departures dates are available late January into the first week of June. Weekend dates are available. Mid-March spring break season is higher priced for the second half of the month.

Deep in the South
Charleston, South Carolina is a wonderful tourist destination I visited for a few days in May 2014. There are plenty of restaurants and bars, historic guided tours, National Parks and Monuments with Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie, grand antebellum seaport mansions, history signs on every block describing some person, place or event, and a climate better suited for winter touring in my opinion. I was a hot tourist during an early May heat wave with day time temperatures in the mid-90s.
