Safari fare Swiss $903 LAX to Dar Es Salaam

Swiss Airlines has an $903 round trip fare from Los Angeles LAX to Dar Es Salaam DAR, Tanzania. I call this a safari fare due to Tanzania developing a significant safari resort tourism sector in the country. Hilton, Marriott and Hyatt have new resorts in the country.

Check out the Tanzania Tourism Board website for things to do.

Three of Africa’s natural wonders are in Tanzania with the Serengeti National Park, Mt. Kilimanjaro National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area.

Zanzibar and Stone Town are on the East Africa coast near Dar es Salaam.

Google Maps – DAR Airport in east Africa, about 7 degrees south of the equator. Serengeti National Park in upper left. Arusha is a town with tourist facilities and launch point for many of the National Parks of Tanzania.

My rule of thumb for flights to Southern Africa is any ticket price under $1,000 is a good deal. There have not been many times this year when the airline ticket price to Dar Es Salaam has been under $1,100 for travel from California. This Swiss Airlines deal is the second lowest fare I have seen for this route. Delta had the fare at $884 LAX-DAR round trip last May for a day or two.

Departure Dates: There are fares around $900 for LAX departures from January through April, then fares rise to over $1,100 again.

LAX-DAR LX $903

Price shows $886 round trip, but final price came up at $902.60 for two tickets I priced through to purchase page on Swiss site.

Flight Miles: LAX-ZRH-NBO-DAR-ZRH-LAX = 20,243 miles.
