There is a charity auction for Blessings in a Backpack with about 140 Hyatt brand hotels worldwide available for bids on BiddingOwl.com. This auction launched yesterday on #GivingTuesday and runs through December 16, 2015.

About 40 of the Hyatt Hotels are outside the USA including Park Hyatt Sydney, Grand Hyatt Melbourne, Park Hyatt Goa, Park Hyatt Istanbul, Hyatt Regency London The Churchill, Andaz London Liverpool Street, L’Hotel du Louvre Paris, Grand Hyatt Bali, Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. Many of the 100 or so hotels in the USA include Hyatt Place hotels, where there is more likelihood of avoiding a bidding war and landing a good hotel rate discount with your bid.

USA hotels also include many upper upscale hotels like Hyatt Regency San Francisco, Hyatt Regency San Antonio Hill Country, Hyatt Regency Gainey Ranch Scottsdale, Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach, Hyatt Regency Orlando, Hyatt Regency Washington DC, Hyatt Regency Miami and many more.

Blessings in a Backpack charity auction

While people are getting in the holiday spirit earlier every year, our volunteers are preparing to pack backpacks full of food for children to take home over long winter breaks. More than 16-million children are living in food-insecure homes; 70% of children qualify for free or reduced lunch. Blessings in a Backpack helps keep them fed on the weekends.

Currently, our programs provide 2.8-million hunger free weekends to more than 78,000 children in 45 states and Washington D.C. This school year, our goal is to provide 3.3-million hunger-free weekends to 94,000 children across the United States.

Winning a Hyatt hotel stay auction while contributing to a charity providing food for children is a win-win situation for travelers.

Auction bid wins for Marriott Hotels funded part of my travels in 2015

Last December I won some great hotel deals for Marriott Hotels in 2015 with budget stays at Marriott Copley Place Boston and Marriott Anaheim through the Omaha Marriott Business Council in an auction for Children’s Miracle Network.

Loyalty Traveler – Bid for 64 Marriott deals in Omaha Children’s Miracle Network Fundraiser (Dec 15, 2014).

Loyalty Traveler – Marriott deals scored on Super Silent Auctions (Dec 18, 2014).

This year I checked for the Marriott auction in early November to discover it ran in October.

I’ll be watching those bids on December 16 for 2016 travel deals with Hyatt Hotels.

Do you know if elite benefits are honored and/or stay credit are provided with the nights?

  • Ric Garrido December 2, 2015

@Susan – I would assume stay credit is not given since this is an auction reservation. For Marriott I had to go through the sales department to book my room stay.

Elite benefits are more probable, but certainly no guarantee. An email to the hotel with your Hyatt Gold Passport information after booking a reservation might help in that situation.
