Club Carlson is offering 15,000 bonus points for one stay at a Park Inn hotel in the Americas between September 30 and December 31, 2015. There are 16 participating hotels.
This is not as lucrative an offer as the 44,000 points deal a few years ago, but sufficient incentive to send me to Fresno again. There are two Park Inn properties in California. One is Park Inn Covina and the other is Park Inn Fresno.

Two Park Inn Hotels In California
Park Inn Covina is located in the San Gabriel Valley, east of Los Angeles. This is the town where my mother’s parents lived in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath house. Covina was my California hometown for part of my childhood, mostly during years when my father was deployed in Vietnam.
My parents stayed at the Radisson Covina for one stay during the 50,000 points promotion a few years back. They were shocked at the poor condition of the hotel. It since rebranded and remodeled to Park Inn Covina. Somewhere in Loyalty Traveler archives is a photo of a misshaped toilet seat on a toilet from that hotel stay.
That part of California is history to me now. All my close family died or moved away and I have had no reason in the past decade to ever travel east of Los Angeles on my trips goin’ Back Down South.
Oh! Lord, Park Inn Fresno Again
Fresno seems to be my go-to California location when I want a cheap room for good value hotel stay promotions. I can drive and be at Park Inn Fresno in 2.5 hours from Monterey.
I set out on the road,
Seeking my fame and fortune,
Looking for a pot of gold (points).
Things got bad, and things got worse,
I guess you will know the tune.
Oh ! Lord, Stuck in Lodi Park Inn Fresno again.lyrics from Lodi, with all respect and apologies to John Fogerty and Creedence Clearwater Revival, the underappreciated California sound of the sixties.
Now, Fresno is not all that bad, although I only know the place for shopping malls, fast food restaurants and gas stations. I stay long enough to pick up some food, sleep in a bed and then in the morning I head east on Highway 180 into the Sierra Nevada. I stayed at this same hotel several times when it was Four Points Fresno. Fresno is the gateway to one of the most fascinating and exhilarating road trips in the world.
Kings Canyon National Park – The mountains are calling and I must go (May 15, 2011).
On the Road to Earth’s largest tree in Sequoia National Park (Nov 3, 2013).
These posts describe the natural wonders and road trip conditions driving from Fresno to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. I look forward to another trip to the big trees before the snows come this season.
Club Carlson 15,000 bonus points for a one night stay is the kind of motivator that makes a drive to Fresno worthwhile since it is like a free hotel night before driving up into the highlands of the California Sierra and seeing the largest living wonders on our planet.
