Lufthansa $830 San Francisco and Los Angeles to Cape Town, South Africa

Lufthansa has a very low fare today from San Francisco or Los Angeles to Cape Town, South Africa for as low as $830. There is about a six week window for departures from last week of October to first week of December. Cape Town is seldom on sale and this ticket price is even lower than San Francisco fares to Johannesburg today.

This is the lowest fare I have seen since May for this San Francisco route. Delta and Skyteam airlines most commonly have the low fares to South Africa.  Last May, Delta had SFO-CPT at $706 for one day and $766 for a few days. This is the best fare I have seen since then. I have not seen a Oneworld fare bookable online at this low a price. Johannesburg is frequently on sale from Los Angeles, but far less frequently from San Francisco.

  1. Just a caveat on these low LH fares…they’re most likely in K class which earns no mileage in most STAR FF programs, 25% mileage in M&M.
