American Airlines has expanded its fare sales this week to South America from Los Angeles with Lima at $564 round trip and Santiago SCL Chile at $750. Brazil and Colombia have been frequent discounts over the past few months. Chile and Peru have been less frequently on sale.
Departure dates range from September to early December, with lowest fares available most days of the week.

American Airlines offered this route at $524 on May 17, so this is a comparable low fare. Copa published a very low $399 round trip fare LAX-LIM on July 6 for a short booking period.
Lima LIM – Cuzco CUZ $151 Avianca
Cuzco and Machu Picchu are one of the main tourist destinations in Peru. The cost of ticketed flights for LAX-CUZ round trip runs $1,000+. You can get a deep discount on that fare by ticketing LAX-LIM for $564 and picking up an Avianca ticket Lima LIM – CUZ Cuzco for $151 round trip.
$715 all-in LAX-LIM-CUZ round trip and about $300 savings on direct round trip ticketing from Los Angeles.
