American Airlines has dropped the fare for San Francisco to Santiago, Chile SCL airport to $750 round trip for departures as soon as August 13 into late October.
American Airlines San Francisco SFO – Dallas DFW – Santiago, Chile SCL
$749.60 Thursday August 13 – Thursday August 20
12,667 flight miles.
American Airlines dropped the fare on this SFO-SCL route to $708 last April. This is one of the lowest fares seen in past few months to Chile. Copa Airlines offered a $609 round trip fare LAX-SCL on May 14. This is a good fare at $750 round trip on American Airlines to Santiago SCL, an airport where there have not been many fare deals under $800 from California in 2015.
They had the 1000 business fare out of JFK earlier this month. That seemed like a good deal too.
$1,000 for Business Class JFK-SCL looks like a great deal. Especially if someone else is paying for the ticket.
$2,000 for two seats is quite a bit more than $1,500.
The benefits of splurging for a business class seat are you get airport lounge privileges and possibly get some decent sleep in flight. $250 more to Santiago for two days of rest on an international itinerary can be as good as a hotel and a good investment for a more enjoyable travel experience (assuming there was a $1000 Biz class flight from California).
In general, my focus is economy class fares since I look at frequent travel in the long run spending my own money.
