This is one very low fare to the Maldives via Shanghai. Skyteam Alliance airline China Eastern has a few dates between August and November with round trip fare at $598 to $615 for Los Angeles to Male, Maldives.

    So you’d be paying about the same amount for the 30-minute or so flight from Male to the resort island as for the flight from the US to Male? Wow.

    That sounds about right. Kind of amazing how expensive the short island hops are from Male to resort islands.

    I figured it was kind of an oxymoron idea to write about flights to Maldives in economy class.
