Tanzania has been a destination on my mind this past year, perhaps even more than South Africa as a place I’d like to visit in Africa. Tanzania has come up a couple of times on Loyalty Traveler when I wrote about Hyatt hotels in Zanzibar and near the interior National Parks of Tanzania popular for wildlife viewing safaris.
Emirates announced a sale this week ending May 17 with fares at $1,699 all-in for two passengers from Los Angeles or San Francisco or seven other U.S. airports to Dar Es Salaam, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg or Nairobi.
Delta-KLM Los Angeles to Dar Es Salaam $884
I have had my eye on Dar Es Salaam airfare the past couple of months and this week is the first time I have seen the fare drop under $1,000 round trip from California. Now Delta-KLM has dropped the fare to $885 from Los Angeles and $935 from San Francisco to Dar Es Salaam DAR, Tanzania from mid-August through November for departures Sunday to Wednesday.

Mount Kilimanjaro Flyby
Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain at 19,341 feet. Kilimanjaro Airport JRO is located in Tanzania. This KLM itinerary has a stop at JRO airport on the way to Dar Es Salaam.
