SPG Select Member Exclusive 7,500 bonus points after 3 stays May 1 to July 31

Have you noticed that here in the beginning of May 2015, hotel loyalty programs are in a California-sized drought of promotions? Choice, Hyatt, IHG, Marriott and Starwood do not have a system-wide hotel loyalty promotion in place since May 1. I don’t recall that many hotel loyalty programs without a global promotion at any time in the past eight years.

SPG Select Member Exclusive 7,500 bonus points after 3 stays May 1 to July 31, 2015

On May 1 a targeted offer from Starwood Preferred Guest arrived in my email.

A check of FlyerTalk shows two targeted SPG promotions have been making the rounds among SPG members. And SPG loyalists are angry at not being targeted. One offer is for 7,500 bonus points and the other offer is three free nights after three stays.

My bonus awaits to be seen.

Which offer did I receive?

SPG 7500 email-3

  • Earn 1,500 bonus points after first stay.
  • Earn 2,500 bonus points after second stay.
  • Earn 3,500 bonus points after third stay.

That’s an impressive 7,500 bonus points.

I remember in 1999 when I first enrolled in Starwood Preferred Guest and my first promotion offer was 7,000 bonus points after 3 stays.

I’ve come a long way with Starwood Preferred Guest. Too bad I only received this offer by staying away from Starwood Hotels. This offer might get me into some Starwood Hotels for 3 stays in the next three months.

Or not.

Have you been staying away from Starwood Hotels this past year?
