$900 economy class flights from LAX and SFO to Europe are nothing to get excited about, unless it is for mid-July travel. Last night I noticed British Airways dropped fares from SFO and LAX to under $1,000 for July departures to several Scandinavian airports. British Airways seems to be the primary airline dropping fares with Skyteam and Star Alliance airlines competing on some routes.
One of the deals available is the opportunity to fly to several smaller airports in Norway and Sweden at the same price as flying to Oslo or Stockholm.
These routes are worth watching to see if this airfare sale expands or remains rooted in British Airways and OneWorld airline members.
OneWorld Airfares to Scandinavia
British Airways flight itineraries are available for booking through British Airways or can be booked on American Airlines as codeshare flights.
San Francisco – London LHR – Gothernburg Sweden GOT $908.50 booked on American Airlines website flying British Airways operated flights.
All flight segments earn 100% AAdvantage miles and 0.5 AAdvantage elite points for 12,065 redeemable miles round trip.
For comparison, this SFO-GOT route was $640 round trip with Lufthansa for August 4-18 travel on March 19 during the week when the big USA-Europe fare war happened among the alliance member airlines.
We may see another fare sale for Scandinavia in Europe in the next month, but this current sale may be one of the last times fares will be under $1,000 for July travel west coast USA to Europe, unless you go to Vancouver YVR.

KLM and Air France offer relatively low fares for June travel, but drop off for July departures from SFO and LAX.
Is this the lowest airfare we will see for July travel?
The real deal here is the rate drop for flights to Scandinavian cities in July. June departures were about $150 lower last month to ARN, CPH and OSL when there was a major fare war. Airfares from California to Scandinavian airports for July travel have been over $1,200 for the past few weeks since the previous airfare sale last month.
These are low fares for travel from California to USA for July 2015 travel. These might be the lowest fares we will see this season before fares rise again. Or not. Even if airfares drop again sometime in the next month, I doubt July departures will drop below $850 round trip from California to anywhere in Europe.
June and August travel will likely offer more deals.
