I took time this weekend to app out my phone. I have about 30 travel site apps now. I can now use Kayak on my phone. It didn’t work well the past year without the app. I have HHonors, Marriott, IHG, Club Carlson, Wyndham Rewards and Hyatt. Still need to load the Starwood app, but no hurry since 21 hotels in California opted out of the current SPG 2x/3x promotion. Hyatt and IHG are my go to hotels right now.
I downloaded the Expedia app. I have been seeing Expedia TV commercials frequently about their triple points app bonus. Also, save $25 on first hotel booking using the app.
Travelpony app for Lyft credits
TravelPony has a mobile app feature for a hotel deep discount daily offer. I have had a whopping two referral credits for $50 with TravelPony since I wrote about them earlier this year. Looks like that suite at the Fairmont San Francisco is not going to happen with my slow referral rate. I did find some Best Western and Shilo Inn hotels in Washington and Oregon I can book through TravelPony.
TravelPony also has a deal with car share service Lyft. Book a TravelPony hotel using the mobile app and you get a Lyft credit.
What other deals are there for mobile app bookings?
There are likely several other mobile app booking specials available right now. Please share other deals and I’ll round them up for my October promotions update.
Mobile apps are almost as hot right now as the Monterey Peninsula where we are looking at the fifth consecutive day with temperatures topping 80F for the first time since October 2003. Really, summer is not that hot around this part of California. Factoid, October tends to have the highest temperatures of the year in central coast California. We (literally) sweated through 18 innings of the SF Giants 2-1 win over the Washington Nationals in the longest MLB post season game in history yesterday, sitting in our living room with our fan blowing hard as we watched the ball park fans in D.C. wrapped up in jackets and blankets.
