Hotel Loyalty 2014-Q3 hotel promotions Travel Auctions

BiddingforGood.com hotel deals

BiddingforGood.com hotel deals are a bonus for items on this charity fundraiser auction website. There are hundreds of offers for hotels and travel packages. The travel packages with airfare do not typically look to be bargain rates. The stand alone hotel offers are where I see some potential deals.

Gaylord Orlando

Gaylord Palms Resort is part of Marriott International. $170 for a 2-night stay would be a great deal for this hotel if that were the winning bid on September 27. This auction item supports Friends of Homeless Animals.

I stayed a few nights at Gaylord Palms in 2010 and took the complimentary hotel shuttle to DisneyWorld.

Bernardus Lodge, Carmel Valley, California

The item that truly caught my eye is a 2-night stay at the Bernardus Lodge, a luxury hotel in Carmel Valley about twelve miles from where I live in Monterey. Bernardus Lodge is considered the top hotel in the area outside the Pebble Beach Resorts or Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur.

Bernardus Lodge is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

BiddingforGood Bernardus

Description:

Gift certificate for a Two Night Midweek Stay; in a Premium Garden or Croquet Room. Bernardus Lodge & Spa, P.O. Box 80, 415 W. Carmel Valley Rd., CA 93924 Reservations (888) 648-9463 www.bernardus.com

Current leading bid = $396

Next minimum bid = $416.

Auction closes August 25, 8:59pm PDT.

Special Instructions:

Certificate subject to availability. Valid Sunday – Thursday only and some black-out dates may apply. Certificate excludes tax and resort fee. Original certificate must be presented at time of service. Expires 02/28/15.

My research shows regular rates at Bernardus Lodge are about $450 per night. There is currently a 3-for-2 rate starting for about $900 that reduces the nightly rate down to $300 per night. You might be able to get a lower rate through the BiddingforGood auction.

These are just two examples of the hotel items for sale on BiddingforGood.com.

Have you ever used BiddingforGood.com? How was the experience?

I have used this for a few different items. Delivery is always prompt. Over the last couple years as more have found out about them, they have few auctions left that I would call very good values. They have a number of pre-packaged airfare and hotel stay auctions that are not good values at all. But you are supporting non-profits by bidding, and that’s a good thing.

@james – I find that auction value really depends on your knowledge of the real value of th eitem and holding out for the occasional good value items that are not overbid.
