Has Hilton HHonors stopped caring about its global bonus points promotions?
I registered for the Hilton HHonors Triple Your Trip 2014 Q3 promotion on July 9, 2014. Then the HHonors promotion registration page went offline for almost two weeks.
Now the Hilton HHonors Triple Your Trip 2014 Q3 promotion registration page is up again and the list of hotels opting out of the August 1 to October 31, 2014 promotion has finally posted. The number of Hilton brand hotels opting out of the Triple Your Trip promotion is larger than most global hotel chains. Loyalty Lobby counts 1,362 hotels opting out. That is one out of three hotels worldwide in the Hilton Worldwide chain choosing not to participate in the upcoming HHonors global promotion.
What a joke for a hotel loyalty program promotion.
Most of the hotels opting out are located in the USA. Three out of four Hilton brand hotels around the Monterey Bay region where I live in California opted out.
The Hilton HHonors Triple Your Trip promotion is gutted before it even starts.

HHonors members will receive double points for the average nightly folio for qualifying Monday through Thursday nights of their stay and triple points for the average nightly folio for qualifying Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights of their stay completed during the Promotion Period.What does Double and Triple Points mean?
For the Triple Your Trip promotion “Double Points” means you will receive a bonus equal to the number of Base Points earned on the average nightly folio for qualifying Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. “Triple Points” means you will receive a bonus equal to twice the number of Base Points earned on the average nightly folio for qualifying Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Bonus Points earned on Base Points do not count toward tier qualification. Please allow 6-8 weeks from completion of your stay for the Bonus Points to appear in your HHonors account.How will the Double and Triple points be calculated
For the Triple Your Trip promotion, the Bonus Points you earn per night are calculated based on the average nightly folio of your total stay (average nightly folio is calculated by taking the total net folio of your stay during the Promotion Period, divided by the total number of nights of the stay). Triple Your Trip “Double Points” are awarded for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights in your stay. Triple Your Trip “Triple Points” are awarded for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights in your stay.Example:
US Net Folio: $1,038.38 x 10 pts per $1 = 10,383 BASE Points
10,383 BASE Points / 7* = 1,483 Average Points Per Night
*(replace 7 with total # of nights of the stay within the Promotion Period)CALCULATION OF TRIPLE POINTS FOR THIS EXAMPLE:
· Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights (3 nights) will receive Triple Points
· Triple Points is 2 x Average BASE. Therefore, 2 x 1,483 = 2,966
· 2,966 (triple points value) x 3 (total nights that are eligible for triple points) = 8,898CALCULATION OF DOUBLE POINTS FOR THIS EXAMPLE:
· Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights (4 nights) will receive Double Points
· Double Points is 1 X Average BASE. Therefore, 1 x 1,483 = 1,483
· 1,483 X 4 (total nights eligible for double points) = 5,932CALCULATION OF TOTAL BONUS POINTS AWARDED
FOR THIS EXAMPLE:
8,898 (total triple points) + 5,932 (total double points) = 14,830 Bonus Points
The simple way to calculate HHonors Triple Your Trip promotion points earned is double points means 20 points per $1 and triple points means 30 points per dollar in hotel spend. Elite bonuses are additional points and Points & Points are additional points.
$100 hotel night on Wednesday night earns 25 points per dollar for a non-elite HHonors member with Points & Points earning preference.
$100 hotel night on Friday night earns 35 points per dollar for a non-elite HHonors member with Points & Points earning preference.
Of course this assumes you are staying at a Hilton brand hotel participating in the Hilton HHonors Triple Your Trip 2014 Q3 promotion.
For travelers in the USA there is a good chance your hotel will not be participating.
