Courtyard Los Angeles L.A. LIVE

  • Los Angeles, California 90015
Residence Inn Los Angeles L.A. LIVE
  • 901 West Olympic Boulevard
  • Los Angeles, California 90015

These two Marriott brand hotels are housed in the same new building. Courtyard offers 169 rooms with 5 suites on 23 floors. Residence Inn offers 219 suites on 23 floors. Both hotels are Marriott Rewards category 6 award nights meaning the MegaBonus free night certificates will not get you into these new hotels.

Rate checks for this weekend show Courtyard at $200 and Residence Inn at $219 for BAR rates.

L.A. Live is the entertainment and sports venue in downtown Los Angeles near the Los Angeles Convention Center and Staples Center sports event center where Los Angeles team basketball and hockey games happen.

JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton already occupied prime space in this area at L.A. Live and now there is a more economical option when staying in downtown Los Angeles.

I have attended several hotel industry and travel conferences in the past four years at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The area is growing hotels in the major brands and contributing to urban renewal. The area is an intense experience for walking around with upscale hotels and restaurants to the west of the Convention Center and the nation’s largest homeless skid row to the east where some 10,000 homeless residents live on the sidewalks.

We stayed at the Ritz recently, Club Level, and had a fantastic stay. Everyone from the valet staff and bell staff to the General Manager who made a point to introduce himself went above and beyond to ensure a wonderful experience.

    That being said…

Make sure this is the location (and JWM, CY, and RI) you want to be for your visit to LA.

If your goal is Hollywood, then this is a little far.

But, for LA Live / Conventions / Lakers/Clippers/Kings games, you cannot beat it.

@Lark – great point about Los Angeles as a tourist destination. Downtown LA is the business district for conventions and sports events.

As a tourist I recommend staying in Hollywood if you want night clubs for music, Santa Monica for the beach and family fun, Beverly Hills for glitz.

All these places are 8 to 15 miles from downtown Los Angeles.
