Starwood points transfer at 1-to-1 rate into American Airlines AAdvantage miles or US Airways Dividend Miles.
5,000 Starpoints = 5,000 AA or US miles.
AA and US bonus miles with SPG points-to-miles transfers gives 20% bonus miles from American AAdvantage or US Airways Dividend Miles for an extra 1,000 miles. This applies to all SPG points-to-miles transfers into AA and US during July 2014.
20,000 Starwood points = 30,000 American AAdvantage Miles bonus offer for July 2014.
The best deal here is a transfer of 20,000 Starwood points with the normal 25% bonus from Starwood = 25,000 AA miles or 25,000 US miles. American or US Airways adds 20% more miles for an additional 5,000 bonus miles.
20,000 Starwood points = 30,000 American Airlines or US Airways Dividend miles for Starpoints transfers made from July 1 to July 31, 2014.
20,000 Starwood points = 30,000 US Dividend Miles bonus offer for July 2014.
American AAdvantage economy class off-peak saver awards to Europe are only 20,000 miles one-way between USA and Europe from October 15 to May 15. Intra-Europe partner airline flights are 10,000 miles in economy for a one-way award. 20,000 Starpoints will take you to just about any place in Europe with 30,000 miles. Considering high airfares in 2014, there can be good value in transferring Starpoints to miles if you need to get to some expensive destination.
American Airlines economy class off-peak saver awards to Central America and northern South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela) are 15,000 miles for one way travel September 7 – November 14, 2014. One 20,000 Starpoints transfer will be sufficient miles for a roundtrip American Airlines ticket from the USA to Central America or northern South America.
Personally, Ivalue my Starpoints too highly to transfer to airline miles. I transferred 20,000 Starpoints into 25,000 British Airways miles once back in 2003 when I needed quick miles for First Class tickets from the USA to Australia within days of the award rate rising from 150,000 miles to 420,000 miles.
That being said, you may find great value in this deal if you need to be somewhere and you have more need to save cash than Starpoints.

Starwood Preferred Guests can transfer up to 79,999 of their Starpoints per transaction per program within a 24-hour period to the American Airlines AAdvantage program. Plus, for every 20,000 Starpoints transferred within the same transaction, Starwood will automatically add another 5,000 Starpoints! There is no minimum Starpoint transfer requirement for Platinum Preferred Guest members. Gold Preferred Guest members have a minimum transfer requirement of 1,500 Starpoints, and Preferred Guest members have a minimum transfer requirement of 2,500 Starpoints.

Only one airline transfer transaction per member per 24-hour period is allowed; multiple transfer transactions within the same 24-hour period will reject.
