Ramada Hotels global presence for Wyndham Worldwide chain

Ramada Hotels with 826 hotels worldwide is one of 12 primary brands in Wyndham Rewards hotel loyalty program. Ramada has the primary global presence for the Wyndham Rewards hotel members with Ramada Inn locations in 59 countries outside the USA. The average daily room rate reported for the Ramada brand was $80 per night in the last Wyndham 2014-Q1 financial report.

Iraq, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Macedonia, Montenegro, Ukraine are places where you are hard pressed to find another major hotel chain. You can cuddle with a pillow in the comfort of your Ramada room when the streets outside might be scary at night. Besides current and former war zones, Ramada hotels complement tourist countries with locations like seven hotels in Switzerland, seven hotels in Romania, four in Peru, 35 Ramada hotels in Germany, 14 in Turkey and 35 in the UK. New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, Brazil, Mongolia, Thailand and Tunisia are among the 59 countries outside the USA with Ramada Hotels.

Some of these foreign locations offer hotel award nights at 10,000 points or less per night.

Ramada Macedonia — Ramada Plaza Gevgelija, Macedonia is the only western brand hotel around town for 70EUR per night or 8,000 Wyndham Rewards points.

Wyndham Rewards points could be purchased through Daily Getaways at the price of $5.40 or $6.00 per 1,000 points until Friday, July 4. Since Wyndham Rewards changed its points-to-miles transfer rate, the points packages offered through Daily Getaways did not sell out this year. Daily Getaways closed out its 2014 offers yesterday.

One of the best features of Wyndham Rewards is all hotel brands earn 10 points per dollar, except 5 points/$1 for Hawthorn Suites.

Ramada is my most frequented hotel brand in the Wyndham Hotels chain.

I’m a budget traveler and I’m not trying to be negative because this post is rather , but….
Ramada hotels are rather poor on average. It’s OK if you don’t expect a lot and like to stay at Super 8’s, Days Inn, Motel 6 etc. To me the only reasons to stay at a Ramada is that you couldn’t find a Red Roof Inn in the area, your a foreign war journalist or you have Wyndham points you need to dump.

In STL you have Drurys Hotels, the pride of the Midwest midscale hotel brands; assuming you are around St. Louis.
As a traveler I like to know my options. I keep a stash of Wyndham Rewards points when the best option is a Wyndham brand hotel. In my travels the Ramada option has come a few times as the best choice for the budget and convenience.

I have stayed in several Ramada hotels in the past decade. I don’t think I have slept in a Super 8, Days Inn or Motel 6 in the past 15 years.

In the places I have stayed at a Ramada, the hotel was the best option for my budget. Ramada Los Angeles was not my first choice for a hotel property a few years back when I attended a five day travel convention, but I saved over $1,000 using $300 in Wyndham points compared to blowing all my points with Starwood, Hilton or Marriott options. LA is awash in freeways and I was two miles away from the convention center on a surface road.

I stayed in Ramada in central Amsterdam for $85 per night (hotel is no longer a Ramada). There was no Red Roof Inn around and the Crowne Plaza, Hilton and Marriott were all more than $250 per night. The room was small with a great view, very clean and colorfully furnished.

Ramada has been a good hotel choice for a few trips I have taken both in the USA and outside.
