Ritz-Carlton free night after two stays July 1- Oct 31, 2014

Ritz Carlton Rewards has released a high value offer of one free night after two paid stays from July 1 to October 31, 2014. There is a limit of two free night certificates per member. The free night certificate is limited to Ritz-Carlton Tier 1 to 3 hotels. Free night certificates are not transferable and expire six months from issuance.

Registration is required by September 30 and you must be a Ritz-Carlton Rewards member who is not a Marriott Rewards member. New members to Ritz-Carlton Rewards as of June 4 will be automatically registered for this offer.

Marriott only allows a person to be a member of either Marriott Rewards or Ritz-Carlton Rewards at one time. There is no problem switching your membership between being a Marriott Rewards member and Ritz-Carlton Rewards member. The problem is the T&C for this free night offer require you to have been a Ritz-Carlton Rewards member as of June 4 if you were a Marriott Rewards member.

Still, exceptions have been made in the past and you might still be able to get in on this offer as a current Marriott Rewards member if you request a membership change. If this promotion looks like one you can use, then contact Marriott Rewards and try.

Promotion Analysis

This offer is similar to Marriott MegaBonus. I think the marketing idea is to reward frequent guests of Ritz-Carlton Hotels with a free night and incentivize guests who stay one time within the promotion period to complete a second stay during the promotion and earn one free night.

From my Loyalty Traveler budget travel viewpoint, this offer provides an opportunity to stay twice for one-night stays at low rates, if you can find a low rate, and earn a free night certificate that can be redeemed for a room that will cost as much or more than the two paid one-night stays.

Tier 3 Ritz-Carlton Hotels are normally 50,000 points per award night.

  • Ric Garrido June 6, 2014

Check out this site. Marriott is not too good about status matches in their reports.

I recommend you contact Marriott Rewards and see what they say.

the easiest way to get status without staying 50 nights

dumb membership “this but not that” dance – some foolishness just not worth it. AND contingent upon finding a reasonable rate AND a participating hotel. Sheesh.
