SPG Hot Escapes from June 5 to July 16

This week’s SPG Hot Escapes has 39 hotels in China and only 26 hotels in the USA. Europe offers 32 hotels, Asia-Pacific has 70 hotels and Africa-Middle East has 15 hotels.

This weekly sale seems about as useful as IHG Last Minute Reward Nights. The low hotel rates listed are only for select dates over the six weeks. The 20% discount for a prepaid, nonrefundable hotel stay is a decent reduction in price, but not necessarily the best price out there. AAA usually gives 10% off with a flexible cancellation and many hotels have other special rate offers.

Sorting the SPG Hot Escapes hotels by price gives many hotels with low rates under $100.

$41 per night at Le Meridien Fairway Dubai. Wow! What a hotel deal if Dubai is on your travel list for July. This can be a two week hotel stay vacation for under $700. They even have a heated outdoor pool to cool you off when the temperature averages 85F as a low to 105F as a high for the month of July.

When I tried to book this rate to see how much the taxes were for the stay, the SPG webpage would not scroll down to enter the dates using Internet Explorer.

Sheraton Qiandao Lake Resort, Qiandao Lake, Zhejiang, China gets a 100% guest recommendation score.

Starwood Sheraton Qiandao

$79 per night at Sheraton Qiandao Lake Resort China. This nightly rate is available every Sunday-Thursday in June with rates climbing to over $200 per night on Saturdays.

W-San Francisco exemplifies the real time waster of SPG Hot Escapes with an advertised rate of $151 per night. That rate is available for exactly one date, Sunday, June 29 and the week of July 4 has rates at $182 from June 30 to July 3. Most dates over the next six weeks at this hotel offer rates from $300 to $600 per night.

W-SF rate

W San Francisco shows $151 teaser rate to draw you into SPG Hot Escapes to learn this rate is offered for only one date over next six weeks.

The list is worth checking out if you are planning an airport stay or you are lucky enough to have a hotel discount in a place you need to be on the date you need a hotel room.
