Starwood Preferred Guest’s Bring on the Nights promotion for hotel stays from January 5 to April 30, 2014 earns 2,500 bonus points every five nights. Complete 25 nights and earn an additional 2,500 points for 15,000 bonus points.
All Starwood Hotels worldwide participate in this offer. Starwood Hotels opting out of global promotions has been a major issue the past two years, especially for hotels in the San Francisco Bay area.
Free night awards and Cash & Points awards will not count as eligible nights for this SPG promotion bonus points. Award nights do count for elite qualification.
SPG Bring on the Nights promotion registration is required by February 28, 2014.
SPG Promotion Analysis
This is another one of these promotions where it seems the hotel loyalty program is trying to incentivize members to get on the 75 to 100 nights per year track. Earning 15,000 bonus points after 25 nights is not that much of an incentive for the average member of Starwood Preferred Guest.
Assume 25 nights at $150 per night = $3,750 in hotel spend and 15,000 bonus points is about $420 in value based on the purchase price during Starpoints discount sales. That is barely 11% return.
Hotels.com will get you 10% return on hotel spend.
The best term of this offer is the promotion may be combined with other SPG promotional offers. Perhaps SPG will add a stackable airline miles bonus offer during the promotion period.
Otherwise, SPG Bring Back the Nights offer is an okay bonus for Starwood loyalists. For leisure traveler members seeking the best return on hotel spend over the next four months, I recommend Marriott Rewards, Club Carlson, IHG Big Win and Hyatt for better value promotions.
Other 2014 hotel promotions:
The beginning of 2014 looks like a good time for hotel stays with Marriott Rewards MegaBonus (Feb 1-April 30) with 2 stays earns one free category 1-4 or 1-5 night.
IHG Big Win II customized offer for 30,000 to 100,000 bonus points (January 1 – April 30).
Hyatt Gold Passport free night after 5 nights (January 15- April 30) for a category 1-4 hotel (up to 4 free nights). SPG seems to have a relatively weaker offer.
Club Carlson 38,000 bonus points after 3 nights (Jan 6 – April 13, 2014)
