A luxury hotel room is a nice amenity for a week’s stay in Paris. But unless you are pulling in some big six-figure income, working as a fashion model or Wall Street banker, chances are you can’t afford to stay in Paris in a luxury hotel for a week without busting your bank account or loyalty programs account if you are a middle class income traveler. Luxury is seldom a necessity when it comes to travel accommodations.

The opportunity to buy hotel points in loyalty programs at discount rates is one to consider when these limited time offers become available. Personally, I seldom book Choice Hotels for my travels to urban centers. Choice Hotels are my rural road trip brand. The regular occurrence of Choice brand hotels in Europe at 8,000 points per night is what I find most attractive about Choice Privileges.
Europe is a bargain right now in many cities where hotel rates are typically unaffordable to the vast majority of travelers. There is no need to downgrade your lifestyle to hostel living or couch surfing to spend a week in one of the great cities of Europe.
Thinking beyond the high end hotels in Starwood, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt and InterContinental opens up the opportunity to book comfortable hotels at bargain rates if you expand your outlook to midscale chain hotels available for points in programs like Choice Privileges, Best Western Rewards and Wyndham Rewards. These are global hotel chains where the best values are often found outside the USA.
