Starwood Hotels has a LatinSun promotion rate at seven new hotels in Latin America from Mexico to Argentina offering 1,000 bonus points per stay and breakfast with a minimum 2-night stay using special rate offer LatinSun.
My analysis indicates this is likely not a good deal for someone paying their own hotel rates unless you really want breakfast at the hotel and there are two guests in the room. The LatinSun rate is higher than other available rates like AAA and prepaid rates.

The drawback to this offer is it is higher rates than otherwise available, so it is necessary to compare the additional cost of the hotel nights including breakfast daily for two and 1,000 bonus points per stay.

This base level room results in $75 extra + tax for 5-night stay using LTNSUN rate compared to AAA breakfast rate with only additional benefit being 1,000 bonus points. The prepaid rate saves $200 over 5 nights on LTNSUN rate. $200 buys a lot of food in San Jose Costa Rica restaurants.
