IHG 2-for-1 rates in Europe are real deal

One of the best discounts available for some locations in Europe is the IHG 2-for-1 rate. Most hotels offer the 2-for-1 rates only for weekends, but some hotels offer the 2-for-1 rates on other days of the week. This is not always an easy rate to locate, but when you find a hotel offering 2-for-1 rates, the price is hard to beat.

Advance purchase rates may offer 20% to 30% off Best Flexible Rate. 2-for-1 is 50% off Best Flexible Rate. Another feature is some hotels offer several room categories including suites at 2-for-1 rates.

Here are sample nightly rates using 2-for-1 discount. These are prepaid and nonrefundable rates. Use caution when booking.

***** Europe Rate Discount offer high discounts, but these rates do not earn Priority Club points.

These rates are also available during the late December holiday period when it is possible to get 2-for-1 rates any days of the week at several hotels in some cities like London.

I did not see availability for 2-for-1 rates in Paris in several searches. Also, in the past I have found more room types available than in my searches for this post.

  1. I’m a little unclear from the wording – does the bit in bold about non-points earning apply to all the rates being discussed in this article, or just some?

  2. There is no guarantee these rates qualify for The Big Win promotion. You need a qualifying stay to earn points and a qualifying stay to be eligible as a stay for The Big Win.

The T&C do not specifically exclude 2-for-1 rate from earning points.

I have earned points and stay credit for 2-for-1 rates in the past.

But I would not count on 2-for-1 bookings counting for the Big Win. And other rates shown like 3-for-2 and 35% off specifically state they do not earn points in T&C. The 2-for-1 rate does not have that ‘no points’ term.

They might count. They might not. I do not have a definitive answer on these rates and whether they are eligible.

That is IHG Rewards Club call.

  3. BRG not earning points but is count for Big Win but I’m not sure what about 2 for 1, anyone can confirm, please?
